New features for Le Baby will be tested on regular basis with the public beta. If you’re interested in trying them out and provide us with your feedback, read along.

💁 HOW to participate

  1. Install TestFlight on your device, and invite all participants of the baby journal to do the same. Provided by Apple, TestFlight allows you to install pre-release apps.

  2. If you already use Le Baby on a daily basis, the beta app will replace the one you currently have on your device, and your data will be transferred to it. As a precaution, you can export the journal from the settings screen to backup your entries before proceeding.

  3. Install Le Baby beta from TestFlight. All participants must install this version on their devices for the sharing to work.

🪂 safety first

Is this the first time you are participating in a beta program? Read on, it’s important.

By installing a beta app, you're using a product that isn't 100% stable, and you're taking the risk of getting some flack. Depending on your device and the sharing configuration you set up (iOS versions, number of participants, etc.), errors that we haven’t anticipated in our internal tests may occur.

To limit the risk of data loss and allow you to test with more serenity, Le Baby creates regular backups of the journals (more info in the FAQ below).

Now you know how to register, and you are aware of the risks involved. Do you have a question for us? Write us via the link in the footer below. Thanks in advance to all participants 🙇‍♂️.

FAQ

  • Yes. Existing journals from the apps installed with the App Store will be transferred to the beta. We tested this migration internally and during a private beta, and did not encounter any problems. We still invite you to export the journal from the app’s settings screen and keep the generated .csv file on your device before installing the beta - you can never be too careful.

  • The beta version of the app creates automatic background backups of the journal(s). You can find these backups in your device’s Files app > On my iPhone > Le Baby. The recording is done on a file for every 6 hours, every time you quit the app. So in case of problem, you will have at worst 6 hours of lost entries. And don't forget to tell us about it!

You can also export the log at any time in .csv format from the settings screen, and import it again later if needed.

  • It's very simple: find the .csv file you exported, tap it, and Le Baby should open and offer to import it. If you are faced with a very stark data table, don't worry: touch the share icon and select Le Baby to start the import.

  • No. If you exceed the 200 entries threshold that require a payment in the version available on the App Store, you will have to simulate a payment, but your account will not be debited; the message that appears during this fake payment will remind you of this. So you can save as many entries as you want for free with this test version.

  • Take the screen shot of Le Baby you wish to comment on. Tap the floating thumbnail that appears. Tap OK, and in the menu that appears, choose "Share Beta Review...", write your comment and tap "Send".
